A case of swine flu has been reported in Ohio. Food Corporations are ruling the world. How can we escape!?

"The outbreak raised worries of a sharp drop in foreign tourism while the extension of school closures across the nation stoked concerns that a potential prolonged and widespread epidemic could weigh further on the economy." link

GREAT.

Photo and Edit by James McAuley

Jim took this pretty sweet picture of my tattoo. It's been a few weeks now, but I hadn't posted a picture yet, so I figured I would.

It's been a rainy couple of days, but the weather for this weekend looks great. I think we have a bike riding/picnicking day planned!

I had a pretty awesome weekend trekking around Washington D.C. with Dandelion and Boaz. It rained for a night and day of our weekend, but we were still able to walk around and enjoy the sites. We went to the Smithsonian where we saw some fantastic sculpture work and roamed around the Freer gallery of art. Dandelion and I went to an organic/vegan/free trade restaurant called Java Green which is entirely too expensive to eat at on a monthly basis, but we split something; it was amazing food an a nice little place. Two of Boaz's many friends in the Washington area invited us to stay in their homes. The first night we were outside of downtown DC in a beautiful neighborhood and the second we stayed at a little flat in a very hip area. We explored, made an amazingly green dinner and made the drive back to Athens in a little over 5 hours (we drove pretty fast).

When we got back to Athens we went on a bike ride with some other amazing friends and went to various areas of Athens that I hadn't visited before. After, Jimmy, Boaz, Ally and I went to Casa. I have to stop spending money!

Submitted my housing contract a bit ago, Maggie and I are rooming together! I got a decent grade on my first photo assignment and handed my first design for 314. I think it is pretty nice and I hope my grade reflects that. I have my first test of the quarter in political science, bleh.

Count down 65 days, until we leave on the road trip. I can't stop thinking about it.

Money Saving Initiatives for Spring Quarter 2009
(and the remainder of my life)

->Since we have to on occasion...rarely going out to eat.
->As hard as it may be...vegan cooking only once a week and get a free meal at Thursday meditation.
->Don't buy any clothing; this has been a given for me, but I've recently discovered a new fun way of not spending any money for clothing (that does not mean stealing, silly).
->No more vegan cookies at Donkey.
->Gain road trip resources through means other then buying
-spending money for food/toiletries with extra meal plans
-dumpsters
-couch surfing
-free campgrounds
->Fixing bikes with knowledge from friends at the Athens Bike Co Op with out having to spend any money.
->Not buying text books! I didn't get one this quarter. Borrowing and library!
->I would like to make a garden. Not very road trip portable, but when the time comes I will have one for sure!
->Plasma selling.
->Working at a job, bleh.
->Looking into car advertising as a way to gain money during road trip.

Only 11 weeks until our adventure begins. We need to start calling and contacting and putting the final touches on our route. Any ideas you may have for road tripping/living freely would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Dear Ohio University, please don't get rid of the 10 meal a week plan. I don't need to give you any more money for food I can't eat.

P.P.S. What happened to the extremely beautiful weather?
